Happy New Year! Are you ready for 2025?

We hope you had a wonderful end to 2024 and are feeling recharged and ready for what 2025 has in store! This year brings some significant changes in the ISO standards landscape, and we are fully committed to ensuring that our clients are well informed and prepared.

One of the biggest changes is the upcoming updates to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, which are expected to roll out in September 2026. These changes will bring enhancements that will impact your systems and processes, and we will be working closely with you to ensure a smooth transition from 2025. Read more here.

The ISO 9001 and 14001 changes will reflect modern business practices, emerging technologies, and evolving customer expectations. Here are the key updates we anticipate based on industry feedback and the latest discussions:

  1. Integration of Emerging Technologies: With the rapid rise of digitisation and artificial intelligence (AI), the revised standards will incorporate guidelines for AI-driven automated decision-making and other digital tools.

  1. Focus on Ethics and Integrity: There will be an emphasis on aligning company decisions and actions with ethical standards, fostering transparency and accountability in interactions with stakeholders.

  1. Expansion of Customer Satisfaction: The concept of customer satisfaction will evolve to encompass the entire customer experience, acknowledging the broader context in which businesses engage with their clients.

  1. Renewed Focus on Quality Assurance: We expect a stronger emphasis on quality assurance processes, potentially increasing the demand for ISO 9001 certification as a way to demonstrate commitment to quality.

  2. Clarifications for Service Providers: The revised standards will provide further clarity on the specific requirements for service-based businesses, with some even suggesting the development of a separate standard for services.

  3. Stronger Integration of QMS into Business Processes: The updated standards will reinforce the idea that a Quality Management System (QMS) is a core element of business processes, rather than an isolated function.

  4. Service Requirements and QMS Clarity: There will be more specific guidance for service providers, strengthening the integration of quality management into service-related processes.
